1. Include a variety of Immunity boosting foods such as Vitamin C sources (Amla, Lemons, oranges, Tomatoes), Vitamin D sources (eggs, fish, cod liver oil, mushrooms, cheese, milk products, Soy-milk), Zinc sources (nuts, dairy products, fish, dark chocolate), Basil leaves, ginger, garlic and turmeric.
2. Replace refined wheat flour with a variety of whole grain cereals. Explore new recipes with whole grains to add more fiber to your diet.
3. Keep your protein intake high to boost the metabolic rate.
4. Keep your portion size small as you are physically less active.
5. Plan a daily schedule including a fixed time for your workout. Include the activities which you enjoy the most- Spot jogging, zumba, aerobics, dancing, skipping, Surya namaskaras, yoga,etc.
6. Limit the use of salt and sugar as they may suppress your immunity.
7. Replace your glass of juice and sodas with a fresh fruit. It would be more satiating and healthy because of its fiber content. Also, it would avoid the unnecessary carbohydrate load.
8. Munch on healthy low calorie snacks such as Fresh fruits, carrots, cucumbers, nuts, chana, makhana, soyanuts instead of chips and biscuits while working from home.
9. Stay away from alcohol during this quarantine period as it interferes with the absorption of all the important vitamins and further subdues the immune system.
10. Hydrate your body. Sip lots of water, summer drinks such as thin buttermilk, coconut water, nimbu pani, kokum syrup to keep your body cool.
